Wish Box 2014

A forlorn Bride and Groom work within a task-based dramaturgy as cyphers to deliver their own and the wishes of others in an endless cycle of hopes and regrets.

The wishes are collated right up to the moment of performance but during the performance, the audience are cordially invited to hand their own wishes to the performers at any time for inclusion. Wish Box attempts to explicate the neurosis and aspirations of our times through the lens of performance. Creating a cultural document that performs through the slippage between life and art. Wish Box frames the wishes of others in relation to the postfeminist paradox that the wish of a white wedding presents.

Wish Box premiered its workshop stage of the development process on Thursday 29th May as a part of the Drama and Performance departments Unifest festival at the Wiltshire Building Arts Space. It was also presented as a durational work Eldon Building Grand Opening on the 30th May 2014 at the University of Portsmouth
